Ours is a Story That Will Never Die.
A/N: Just an exercise really but slight spoilers for EoT Part One.
I watch him as he struggles to regain his feet and viciously kick him back down, my foot landing square in the middle of his chest. "Stay down," I say, voice low and unfamiliar even to me.
I've changed so much, turned into something new, something broken and someone else's design.
Of course the Doctor doesn't listen, he never listens, fueled by his desperation. He tries to move up from the dirt again and I hit him again, once, then again, three more times. I made him hear it once, the drums, I'll make him feel it this time.
I crouch down as he gasps for air, violence still swimming through my veins. "Come on, Doctor," I spit out at him. "Where is it? All that pleading? Tell me how much you want to save me."
I cant my head at him, a bemused expression playing across my features. "No? Nothing? Oh, you can't be giving up, you never do that. Save all the Universe and your very best enemy as well. Save him because you thought they weren't real."
His eyes plead better than he ever could but it isn't enough. I don't want his hollow pleas and I definitely do not desire his feeble attempts at trying to get through to me. My next punch has him spitting blood and coughing as he hauls dust filled air back into his lungs through split lips.
"Tell me they aren't real now!" I scream, my body shaking with the force of my anger. I feel the hunger burning me up from the inside out and still the drums are so very loud. I'm losing myself because of this but I don't care. All I want is something to sate it, just for a while, a quick fix.
"Do you remember running together? All the things we talked about?" I begin and the look on the Doctor's face is pained but not from my physical abuse. It pains him to remember how we used to be, so long ago.
I throw my head back and laugh as he weakly whispers my name in desperation, begging me to stop this.
I kick him in the ribs again, making him choke on the dirt. "Do you remember the promises we made when we were nothing more than idiot children that thought forever was a tangible concept?"
"It hurts you to remember, yes?" I ask and the four beat screaming in my head takes over the tempo of my hits. I hear a crack and a pitiful sounding wail comes from the huddled, bleeding mass of a Time Lord on the ground next to me.
"Good."
I lean closer, for the last time, grabbing him roughly by his hair and dragging him closer, my face inches from his own. I watch him try to focus on me, lips moving soundlessly, begging without words. "You'll have me forever, Doctor. We two will always find our way back to one another," I hiss, letting go of his hair and shoving him down roughly. I narrow my eyes at him when he doesn't move. "You'll always play the hero and I'll lurk in the shadows until the time is right and destroy all that you hold dear."
And then I walk away, leaving him to wallow in his misery.
